African-Americans dealing with Coronavirus
(photo; Essence)
African Americans tend to go through fatal forms of mental health more than anyone else in the United States. They are often misunderstood on how to handle these kinds of situations. It is commonly portrayed as shaming and punishment in black communities. The awareness of anxiety and depression is not where it needs to be and needs to seek treatment and needs to be known. Some people are distraught or in belief that they have symptoms and most people are not willing to openly discuss certain topics. They normally choose to stay silent and not talk about it because it is very private to them. People have been grieving deaths throughout this pandemic and elderly people are absolutely frightened about going outside. They do not feel as the hospital is a safe place to go and mentally not comforting. However, it does reveal a person’s weakness through the midst of COVID-19 that challenges people to stay in the house until they say it’s okay to come out. Social distancing has played a huge role as well throughout this crisis as well mentally on African-Americans. For example, some workers are not able to receive pay while being off work and it has been stressful for many people across the country to receive income at this point. People have social workers within black communities and healthcare workers on the front line trying to see where to go if they could be trustworthy and also go to people with familiarity. However, if they do not want to get the treatment nor the prescription filled they will not do it due the false information that has been given due to quarantine. When all sports were announced that they cancelled for the rest of the season they made sure that the national emergency was going to go as planned. They didn’t want it to increase the rate of the virus so they postponed everything until it cleared up. People end up getting sick and unable to get paid while sick and it is quite upsetting to the people and could possibly infect others. They also do not have any benefits within the job policies either so they have to find different resources in order to obtain money. Lastly, they tend to go to people that are deeply rooted into the community making a better cause for other people in order to survive and help others in critical need.

Gayle King Gets Dragged
(image; the wrap)
Gayle King received major backlash due to Kobe Bryant rape charge during an interview with Lisa Leslie after his passing. As a result of that she ended up getting death threats and Oprah says she “was put in a really terrible position because that interview had already had in context of that interview, everyone seemed fine, including Lisa Leslie.” (NBC News) King now has to walk with security because she feels unsafe after she viewed that clip trying to understand why people were infuriated watching this video. Leslie was being questioned about this case knowing that he is no longer with us about old news that should not have been brought up during the time of his mourning. She mentioned that it was consensual during that time period and the case was immediately dropped after she did not want to testify. King’s ultimate question was “Is it really part of his history?” Leslie saw no reason to speak on that matter to the media and put that over his legacy. She mentioned that he was a mentor to all, a role model, and he was advancing into the next part of his life. She also mentions that he was never the type of person who would violate a woman or be aggressive in that manner. Many celebrities and superstars defended Kobe Bryant on his behalf such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Lil Boosie, Bill Cosby, etc due to not only him passing away but also his daughter and others as well. Oprah was also an executive producer on this documentary film discussing about sexual assault that have not been brought into the light. Winfrey revealed the person who posted the interview clip of Gayle King elaborating on how it was misconstrued trying to focus on Lisa Leslie giving her a full answer on social media. She did not wish to bring up the past because it tarnished his name and career after his passing. Gayle made a follow up video on Twitter saying that what she saw on social media was a mistake and she would be angry with herself as well based on what social media viewed. She mentioned that her words were taken out of context throughout the entire interview and people felt as though it was not right to speak on Kobe after he passed in that way. People were highly upset due to the situation at hand afterwards.

The Truth About The Coronavirus
The Coronavirus began to spread in Wuhan, China as a respiratory infection which is similar to other diseases such as SARS and MERS. This disease has been spreading all across China and many other countries as well as the United States. Coronavirus began spreading due to the consumption of bats being eaten as a delectable. Throughout the last few weeks, there have been cases that have tremendously sky-rocketed from 50 in China to approximately 17,000 within 23 countries and more 360 deaths. China has drastically changed within those past couple of weeks due to the outbreak of the virus. Many events were either cancelled or postponed and the streets are empty. Four countries in Africa have some cases that were quarantined, however it looks as though that it will not travel very far to other countries but they informed public health system about this dire issue. The first male that traveled to China was diagnosed with this disease recently traveled to China and was released the following day from the hospital. Coronavirus gives people an upper respiratory infection symptoms like a stuffy nose, coughing, sore throats. It is not as dangerous as people make it seem and it is treatable. Some scientists are highly unsure how dangerous this new virus is. Over-the-counters can treat these symptoms as soon as possible with no hesitation. Some cases reveal that the infection can affect your lungs and windpipe resulting in catching pneumonia with people who have bad immune systems. As of right now, there is no cure for Coronavirus, however there are some ways people can prevent themselves from getting infected like washing their hands with soap and warm water, not touching your face consistently, and staying away from people who already have this disease. It may spread like the flu but we are not sure how it might spread or how lethal it can be for people. It can be contained and not spread and scientists are questioning whether the virus will cause a disaster or it will go away when the weather warms up. Scientists are trying to come up with vaccines and consistently doing tests will give out bad results at the rate they are going. As a result of the unknown they question if the virus is transmitted through coughing or something there they are not aware of. This issue has people panicking with the false information that they have been given.
